Emmy Clarke (she/they) is an autistic, bisexual, working-class writer and editor from the North West of England. She was a 2024 Artist-in-Residence at ART-efact Oswestry and a 2024/25 Mentee with All Stories, where she worked with Editor Kathy Webb.
She was a 2021/22 participant in Sophie Willan’s Stories of Care children’s writing development program and the Pop Up Projects’ Rainbow Library children’s writing program.



Emmy writes poetry, as well as Children’s, Middle Grade and Young Adult fiction. Most recently in 2025, she was longlisted for the David Fickling Search for a Storyteller competition and the Guppy Open Submissions.
Emmy started Changeling in 2022 – a magazine for children featuring neurodivergent artists and writers that has received support and funding from Contact Theatre, the Science and Industry Museum, and the Open University Business Creators Fund. Changeling is currently on hiatus while Emmy focuses on the potential to develop the project.
Emmy has worked as a Trainee Administrator at World Book Day UK, a Bookseller, a Reader, and a Library Assistant. She now offers beta-reading services on her Fiverr (more details below). She is studying a part-time BA in English Literature and Creative Writing at the Open University.
